Cape Hatteras Kiteboarding Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring to my kiteboarding lesson?

Please plan accordingly and bring water shoes, towel, sunscreen, shades, water, and snacks if desired. We have dry boxes in the boat for you to store clothing, towels, and other essential personal items.

Do I need my own equipment?

No, we provide all necessary equipment including kites, harnesses, and kiteboard. You may use your own equipment in the Advanced Mini Camps.

Does kiteboarding require exceptional strength?

No. We have successfully taught between the ages of 9 to 75. Good general fitness is important but you will find the kite and harness carry most of your weight while you are in the water and riding.

Do I have to pay in advance and is the payment non-refundable?

Cape Hatteras is known for their excellent wind conditions but sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate with your travel plans. Since there is always a change of inclement weather we don’t require large non-refundable prepayments. You pay only for the time you use when you use it.

How do I get to your location?

We launch from the Frisco Woods Campground located approximately 4 miles South of the Cape Hatteras Secondary School. Please arrive about 15 minutes early; in time to gear up, eat a snack, apply sunscreen, etc.
